Frequently Asked Questions

These answers cover common questions about Mist’er Rain memberships, irrigation service, scheduling, repairs, and system care. If you do not see your question here, contact us and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Membership

Membership includes seasonal services such as Spring Activation, Winterization, and Backflow Testing, along with system checks, adjustments, and ongoing service support to keep your irrigation system operating efficiently.
Basic is a pay-as-you-go plan where all work is approved before completion. Plus and Elite are monthly plans that include automatic scheduling and a Service Approval Limit (SAL) for routine repairs. Elite also includes a mid-season Summer Tune-up.
SAL is a pre-approved spending limit that allows our technicians to complete routine repairs during a visit without needing additional approval. This helps reduce delays and keep your system running properly.
Membership services are billed at current member rates, which are lower than non-member pricing. Monthly plans prepay for services, while Basic plans pay as services are completed.

Membership Billing

Plus and Elite memberships use a monthly prepay plan for selected services. We confirm the monthly amount before processing, and payments help avoid future lump sums for covered services.
The annual membership fee covers all enrolled properties under the client. Services and selections are still handled per property.
No. Mist’er Rain does not charge credit card processing fees.
Yes. Memberships may be cancelled with written or emailed notice. Payments for services not completed may be refunded, but the annual membership fee is non-refundable.

Access is required for service. If we are unable to perform work due to access issues, a trip fee may apply.
You can start by selecting a membership or requesting service through our website. Our team will follow up to confirm details and schedule your service.

Spring Activation

Spring Activation is the process of turning your irrigation system back on for the season, checking each zone, confirming basic function, and identifying obvious issues.
Basic Activation includes pressurizing the system, checking the backflow preventer, running each zone, confirming controller date/time, and completing limited minor adjustments.

Winterization

Most systems should be winterized in the fall before freezing temperatures arrive. Mist’er Rain completes member winterizations by December 15, weather permitting.
Winterization helps protect irrigation pipes, valves, and backflow components from freeze damage.

Irrigation Repairs

Common signs include dry spots, soggy areas, high water bills, broken heads, zones not turning on, low pressure, or uneven coverage.
Yes. We repair many irrigation leaks. If a leak is significant, unclear, or requires digging/trenching, we will document it and provide an estimate.
Irrigation systems require specialized knowledge of water pressure, system design, controllers, and troubleshooting that goes beyond general landscaping. While landscapers may handle basic adjustments, most are not equipped to properly diagnose issues or maintain long-term system performance.
If we can’t identify your problem within the first hour, that hour is free. This applies to diagnostic service visits.

Irrigation Diagnostics

An irrigation diagnostic is a service visit where we identify what is causing an issue with your sprinkler or irrigation system. This may include checking zones, valves, controllers, wiring, pressure, leaks, and coverage problems.
Request a diagnostic if you notice dry spots, soggy areas, broken sprinkler heads, low pressure, high water bills, zones not turning on, zones staying on, or uneven watering.
We check the parts of the system related to the issue, which may include the controller, valves, wiring, sprinkler heads, nozzles, drip lines, pressure, coverage, and visible leaks.

Backflow Testing

Backflow testing verifies that your backflow prevention device is working properly and helping protect the drinking water supply.

Many water purveyors require annual backflow testing. If you select Backflow Testing, we complete it by your annual due date, provided you supply the due date.

If submission is required, Mist’er Rain can submit results to the appropriate water purveyor when the needed information is provided. Some water purveyor fees may be passed through to the client.

Landscape Lighting
