Mist’er Rain was founded in 1969 by Virgil Young, establishing a strong reputation for irrigation installation and service throughout the Puget Sound region. Virgil was deeply knowledgeable in irrigation and even wrote a book on how to design and install underground sprinkler systems. That early focus on doing the work correctly helped shape the standard Mist’er Rain continues to build on today.
My name is Tim Buiten and I started Tim’s Complete Landscape Management in 2010 after graduating college and spent years learning how to operate service-based businesses. In 2021, I had the opportunity to take over Mist’er Rain. I still run that landscape company today.
Mist’er Rain was a company I had known about for years, with a strong reputation and history. I saw the opportunity to continue that legacy while investing in areas that would allow it to improve and grow.
At the time, the company had not been modernized. Many systems were still paper-based, equipment needed updating, and there had been limited investment in training and internal processes.
I focused on changing that.
We digitized records to preserve the company’s history while making information accessible. We implemented ServiceTitan to improve communication, scheduling, and service. We began investing in training with outside vendors multiple times per year, and upgraded equipment, vehicles, and tools to better support the team.
Mist’er Rain continues to focus on irrigation service as the core of the business. While we still provide design and installation, the priority is making sure systems are maintained properly and clients are taken care of year after year. We have been servicing many of our clients since the 1980’s and 1990’s.
We’ve expanded our service capabilities by positioning mobile technicians in different areas, allowing us to respond faster and cover more of the Puget Sound region.
Our goal is clear: To continue being the #1 irrigation service company in the Puget Sound region.
